Important Information About Furlough Days at LAUSD

The cuts to the state's education budget proposed by the Governor amount to more than $400 million in cuts to the Los Angeles Unified School District's budget. In order to address these cuts, the LAUSD proposed four furlough days for all employees. Furlough days are days-off with no pay.

If the furlough days are implemented, they will not take effect until January, 2009. The District will make a final decision regarding the furlough days once a state budget is finalized.

Be aware that as union members we are protected from changes to our work schedules and wages. Per our contracts with the District, NO FURLOUGH DAYS CAN BE IMPLEMENTED UNTIL THE DISTRICT FIRST NEGOTIATES THIS ISSUE WITH LOCAL 99.
