Negotiations Over Furlough Days Continue at Ventura County Community College District

Ventura County Community College District (VCCCD) administrators are currently at the bargaining table with SEIU Local 99 discussing options to address the state budget crisis. A key issue is addressing the change in working conditions that was created as a result of the job cuts made by the District this sumnmer. The District violated the spirit of our union contract by unilaterally deciding to cut those positions, calling them "reorganizations" and "efficiency measures." Also under discussion is the possibility of furlough days to avoid any future loss of jobs. In separate discussions, the Chancellor has indicated that there should be no more cuts this fiscal year.
