Our Bargaining Team met again with district management on July 21, 2010 continuing contract negotiations. I am happy to report that we reached tentative agreements (TA’s) on three items: Classified Performance Evaluation, 8.16 (Hours and Overtime) and Article VI (Personnel Files). Hearing our concerns, district management pulled back on some of their proposals, making them agreeable to us. We are encouraged by this development and confident that we are on track with the rest of negotiations.
In the meeting we also raised several questions in regards to management's proposals for Articles IV (SEIU Rights) and V (District Rights). We were perplexed by management’s proposal to change classified release time for contract training from Fall Flex Week to the Fall Semester, but after some discussion, they withdrew the proposal.
In addition, management was reluctant to guarantee us seats on some committees, including DCAS and DCHR. We agreed to discuss this and other matters further at our meeting on the 27th of July. Among the items to be discussed are the Classified Self-Evaluation, Evaluation Guidelines, Articles IV and V as well as Health & Welfare Benefits. We will have more to report after that meeting.
Thank you for your continued support and encouragement. Our Bargaining Team is working hard to secure the best contract possible. We will continue to fight for classified!

Dan Casey
