If you turn in your completed papers in November, you will be covered by District insurance health care on December 1 st .

No. Employees pay NO monthly premiums.

Can I opt out? Under what circumstances?

Yes, you can opt out. Eligible employees must show proof of other health coverage. You will receive a $1000 incentive for opting out which will be paid in monthly installments. The district provides the opt-out-incentive to encourage employees to use other health care plans outside of LAUSD.

The District offers two types of life insurances: one is free and the other costs money, but is voluntary. As a benefited District employee, you automatically receive basic life insurance coverage equal to $20,000. The forms in your packet are for the voluntary life insurance. It is a low-cost life insurance that, if selected, will be deducted from your paycheck. Depending on the contribution level you select, your beneficiaries may receive between ½ to 5 times of your annual salary.

This is a voluntary savings program that allows you to set aside pre-tax dollars for medical and child care expenses. This program saves employees money because their gross income is lowered by the amount saved causing them to pay less taxes.
