We Made a Difference!
SEIU Local 99 Members Helped Elect Barack Obama & Other Working Family Candidates
The election of Barack Obama as our 44th President is a victory for working people. For SEIU, this election has always been about putting the American Dream back within the reach of the middle class and low income people who work hard and want nothing more than to provide our kids with a better future.
SEIU Local 99 Members Took Action Like Never Before!
We made a real difference in this election. Click here for photos.
- Local 99 members donated more than 3,000 volunteer hours to knock on doors, make phone calls, hold events, and participate in other election activities.
- Two members took time off work since August to knock on doors in the battleground state of New Mexico.
- We made more than 100,000 phone calls from our phone banks.
- We sent more than 25,000 pieces of mail about the Presidential election to our members
- We knocked on more than 2,500 doors to talk to voters about this election
Now we have a chance to put America on a new path. SEIU members are already gearing up for the transition with a 100 Days for Change plan. With a working families' President in office, we'll be working to establish a clear agenda to rebuild the middle class, fix our national healthcare system, give workers the freedom to join a union without intimidation and hold every politician accountable for the promises they have made to the hardworking families of this nation.
