Do you want to help resolve worksite issues? Have ideas on how we can improve student services? Join one of our Labor Management Committees (LMC). These committees are made-up of members who meet regularly with school district administrators to find solutions to worksite problems, improve working conditions, and improve the student services we provide.
As a Labor Management Committee Union Representative you must work side by side with union stewards, be able to meet once a month with management to have a positive dialogue about enforcing the union contract and improving workplace issues.
Nomination Forms are now available with voting for contested seats for the LAUSD Labor Management Committee Union Representatives to happen on February 8, 2020 at the Industry Division meeting taking place 10am – 12pm at LA Trade Technical College-Aspen Hall 400 West Washington Boulevard Los Angeles, CA 90015.
The following LAUSD Labor Management Committee seats are up for election:
- Bus Drivers – 7 seats (one is an alternate)
- Early Education – 5 seats
- Food Services – 5 seats
- Information Technology Division – 5 seats
- Maintenance & Operations – 5 seats
- Mechanics – 6 seats
- Procurement – 5 seats
- Special Education – 5 seats
- Unit F (Teacher Assistants) – 5 seats
- Unit G (Community Representatives, School Supervision Aides, Playground Supervisors, Workers & Helpers) – 5 seats
To be nominated for a seat on an LMC, any member in good standing must submit a Nomination Form, signed by at least 25 Local 99 members from their own LMC category. The deadline to submit the completed form is 11am on Saturday, February 8 at the Industry Division Meeting at LA Trade Tech College. Prior to February 8, petition may be turned into SEIU Local 99’s main office (2724 W. 8th St. Los Angeles, CA 90005) Monday through Friday between 8am-5pm. Paper copies of nominating petitions are also available Monday-Friday 8:00am-5pm (except holidays) at the SEIU Local 99 main office located at 2724 W. 8th St. Los Angeles, CA 90005. Instructions for completing and submitting nominating petitions are included with the petition itself.
In categories where there are more nominees than available seats, an election will take place at the February 8 Industry Division meeting. LAUSD members in attendance will vote for nominees for their own Labor Management Committee category. Nominees will have the opportunity to deliver a 1-minute speech explaining why they would like to be a part of the Labor Management Committee. Nominees who cannot be present may submit a statement in writing by either delivering it to SEIU Local 99’s main office at 2724 W. 8th St. Los Angeles, CA 90005 by 5pm on Friday, February 7 or having a member in good standing deliver it by 11am on Saturday, February 8 at the Industry Division Meeting at LA Trade Tech College. Nominees who are not elected to fill an available seat may serve as alternates, as needed.
