When LAUSD decided to cut hours from Special Education Assistants and other paraprofessionals working the summer session, Local 99 member leaders on our Labor Management Committee immediately spoke out. After taking the issue directly to the district, today LAUSD agreed to reinstate assignments from 2.5 hours back to 4 hours.
Members who declined ESY assignments because of the reduction in hours can now be reinstated to those assignments. But your immediate response is needed to ensure all preparation can be completed before summer session begins. The district is sending notification today to members who had previously declined assignments. If you want to work the summer session, you must respond to LAUSD’s notification by tomorrow, Wednesday, June 24 at 4pm.
Let’s continue to stand strong to ensure all students get the services they need to succeed. During these times, our students need more support, not less.
