In honor of Women’s History Month in March, we’re celebrating the immigrant women essential workers who are making invaluable sacrifices and contributions to our communities on the frontlines of the Covid-19 crisis.

Essential workers, many of whom are undocumented immigrants and women, are risking their lives during this deadly pandemic to care for our communities, keep our buildings clean and safe, and ensure we have food on the table.

Join the Immigrant Women Are Home campaign to push Congress to act quickly in providing a pathway to citizenship for all essential workers and help build a country where everyone can thrive and reach their full potential.

Here are two ways you can take action:

Join the Caravan for Immigrant Women on Thursday, March 11 at 9:00am

We’ll be gathering at SEIU Local 99’s office at 2724 W. 8th St. in Los Angeles at 9:00 am. From here, we’ll drive together to join a car caravan starting at Macarthur Park 2230 W. 6th St., Los Angeles, CA 90057 and ending at the Metropolitan Detention Center 535 Alameda St, Los Angeles, CA 90012. Make signs for your car. Be sure to wear your mask.

Join the #ImmigrantWomenAreHome Social Media Challenge
Help lift the struggles, resilience and contributions of immigrant women of all generations and backgrounds by participating in the #ImmigrantWomenAreHome social media challenge! Together we can lift these stories and win a pathway to citizenship for all. This person can be a family member, friend, or someone in your community such as a janitor, delivery person, healthcare worker, teacher– or maybe the person is YOU!

  • It’s easy to participate. Here’s how:
Post a photo of an immigrant woman in your life – or yourself – on Facebook, Instagram or any of your social media pages. Share how this person is a valued member of their community and why America is their home. Or, record a short selfie video talking about this person.
In the post, write a sentence or two sharing their story and use the hashtag #ImmigrantWomenAreHome
Tag 3 friends to join you.
  • You can also use this easy tool to record, edit and share your video in minutes.
