On Saturday, May 1st, SEIU Local 99, part of the Los Angeles May Day Coalition, will honor the contributions of immigrants, workers, and those who fight to create a more just society for all with a hybrid march/car caravan and rally. The entire event will be live streamed on Facebook!
This year marks a new era of possibility in a time of desperately needed change. Our work continues under the new Biden Administration as we enter into what looks to be the winding down of the COVID-19 pandemic. If it was not clear before, it is clear now that the problems that existed before the pandemic have been exacerbated because of it. We need immigration reform, we need to protect workers and take a giant leap forward towards racial justice.
This year’s theme will be “The Work Continues / La Lucha Sigue” and will focus on lifting up immigrants, worker rights and fighting against anti-asian hate.
SEIU Local 99 members will be joining the car caravan procession. If you would like to participate in the caravan, please meet at 10 am at:
Albion Riverside Park
1739 Albion St.
Los Angeles, CA 90031
You will receive further instructions when you arrive. Although you will be in your vehicle most of the time, please have a face mask ready in case it is needed.
Watch the Facebook livestream of the program from home or on your phones prior to the caravan procession. Post on your social media accounts using the hashtags #TheWorkContinues #LaLuchaSigue #WeAreHome.
