LAUSD has informed our union that it is reviewing Teacher Assistant (TA) transcripts sent via email on or before July 31, 2021 as the first priority. TAs had three extensions to submit their coursework: (June 30, July 15, July 31). These will be reviewed in the order received. If approved by the district, the TAs will receive an email to show their principals that the layoff (separation) is rescinded or cancelled.

For those that sent coursework/transcript information on or after, August 1, 2021, these will be reviewed after the June/July list is completed. Teacher Assistants may be eligible for reemployment if during the application process they provide transcripts indicating completion of 12 or more units for the 2020-2021 school year. TAs who have been laid-off, but met the qualifications, may reapply as a TA or apply for other positions on the district’s website.

Please note that LAUSD is currently in the process of sending out separation/layoff letters. TAs that received a second review and also an approval email by LAUSD Certificated Human Resources, should keep the approval email for their records.
