Our SEIU Local 99 bargaining team has negotiated an agreement with LAUSD to ensure that workers will have sufficient time to be fully vaccinated. According to our agreement, the deadline to receive the second dose is extended from October 15, 2021 to November 15, 2021. Workers who receive their first dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine by October 15, will be able to return to their worksites while they await the second dose of the vaccine.
Workers without a record of any vaccine as of October 15, 2021, will not be able to report to work but will remain on paid status until October 31, 2021.
Our union will continue in negotiations with LAUSD regarding any staffing changes that may occur as a result of the vaccination requirement.
SEIU Local 99 members include food service workers, custodians, bus drivers, special education assistants and thousands of other school workers who perform essential student services. The extension of the vaccination requirement timeline will ensure that we can continue to maintain a safe and healthy environment for students and staff and minimize disruption of services as we continue to face the challenges of the pandemic.
