Our SEIU Local 99 Bargaining Team is pleased to announce a Tentative Agreement (TA) has been reached with SMMUSD for our full contract! The one-year agreement1 (effective 7/1/21 – 6/30/22) includes:

  • 10% on-schedule wage increase effective July 1, 2021. When ratified, the base pay for ALL SEIU unit members increases by 10%, with retroactive “back-pay” calculated and paid from July 1, 2021 until the date when the 10% wage increase is included on everyone’s regular paychecks.
  • Cesar Chavez and Juneteenth paid holidays added to contract.
  • Technical adjustments to ensure unit members on a school-year calendar maintain existing opportunities and procedures for paid leave and additional paid work during non-instructional days during the school year.

1. Negotiations for the next contract begin immediately on August 9, 2022. All items opened and not previously resolved will continue to be negotiated. Future wage increases (beginning July 1, 2022) will be part of these negotiations.

Voting for the Contract

This Tentative Agreement is subject to ratification by all active SMMUSD SEIU Local 99 members. If you are not a member, you can apply for membership online. There are several ways you can cast your vote:

By Mail

Paper ballots will be mailed out on July 26, 2022. Only members who do not submit a vote online will be mailed a paper ballot to the mailing address on record. All mail-in ballots must be received by August 12, 2022 at 2724 W. 8th St., Los Angeles, CA 90005. If you need to confirm your mailing address with SEIU Local 99 or didn’t receive a ballot, please email [email protected]

In Person

There are several locations and dates where you can vote in person:

Ballot Count

Ballot counting will take place on August 18th at 5:01 pm at the District Office Testing Room. All members are welcome to observe.
