On September 9, 2022, our bargaining team met with LAUSD to resume our contract negotiations after the summer break.

The district responded to our proposal for respectful treatment at work. They proposed that we set-up a committee to address harassment and disrespect on the job. While it’s a good idea – and we’re willing to explore it – it doesn’t go far enough.

We want a grievance procedure that will hold supervisors accountable. There is just too much disrespect towards classified employees. And, under the current system, managers are just policing themselves. It’s not working. We’ll continue to stand by our proposal for a grievance process to address harassment and disrespect on the job.

We’ll meet with the district again on September 16. We made it clear that we expect responses to more of our proposals.

I also want to welcome Jacquie Dorame to our bargaining team. She is a Teacher Assistant and will bring a much-needed voice to our negotiations.

Keep purpling-up and taking action. It sends a strong message to the district that we’re united at the bargaining table and at our worksites for a strong contract.
