Our SEIU Local 99 bargaining team met with LAUSD on September 21, 2022. The district did not budge on the low-ball wage proposal they presented last week:

  • For 2020-21 – ZERO! Nothing! Nada!
  • 2021-22 –  5% wage increase
  • 2022-23 – 4% increase and a 3% one-time bonus
  • 2023-24 – 4% increase with a 3% one-time bonus

It’s not equitable! Just consider that a 5% wage increase for the average classified employee will be about $1350. For teachers it’s about $3750. And for administrators it’s about $5000/year.

LAUSD said we were essential. We say: Respect us and pay us like it!

We continue to reject the district’s wage proposal. It does not keep-up with rising inflation.  And does not lift our wages up to reflect our essential work. Today, we also insisted that part-time won’t work at LAUSD. We presented proposals to change the work basis to reflect what is actually happening with our schedules. Many job classifications are stuck at 9-month schedules when they are in fact working 10 or more months out of the year. This needs to change!Support Our Bargaining Team. Be a CAT!We will head back into negotiations next week. But a strong contract isn’t just won at the bargaining table.
