Our bargaining team met with LAUSD on October 13, 2022, and the district continued to show their disrespect. Even though they said they wanted to “expedite” negotiations, the district did not budge on its low-ball wage offer:It’s not equitable!A 5% increase for the average Local 99 member = $1350/year A 5% increase for a starting teacher = $3750/year A 5% increase for a starting administrator = $5000/year. We let the district know that this is not acceptable and we’re going to escalate our actions at schools and worksites until they come back with wages that are truly equitable and recognize our hard work. It’s Unlawful! We also told the district that the implementation of the new school calendar and acceleration days is disrespectful and against the law. We filed unfair labor practice charges. We let the district know that we expect that anyone who is not able to work on Wednesday, October 19 will not be disciplined and be paid for any wages they lose. If you are not able to work on October 19 due to previous commitments you made when it was an optional work day, report it here.Take Action!SEIU Local 99 members will be out in force at schools and worksites on October 19 and moving forward. Wear purple, set-up an informational picket line before or after school. Let’s show the district that we demand real wage increases and respect! Sign-up to join our Contract Action Team.
