Our bargaining team met with LAUSD on March 1 for a mediation session. It’s clear the district is paying attention to our ongoing actions because they made some movement – but it’s still not enough. The district proposed fully paid health care benefits, including coverage for dependents, for members in Units F & G, including teacher assistants and community representatives. These workers do not currently have access to the same medical benefits as all other members. It’s been yet another example of the inequitable treatment at LAUSD and we’re glad LAUSD is finally recognizing it.The new proposal is a step forward – but not enough. The district is still offering ZERO for 2020 and refuses our demand for a 30% raise plus a $2/hour equity wage increase.Let’s keep pushing LAUSD to show us the respect we deserve! Here’s how you can take action:

March 7 Day of Protest – On March 7, the LAUSD school board will be meeting to discuss our contract. Let’s make sure they hear us! Protests will be happening at schools and worksites throughout the district. Sign-up to lead a protest before school, during lunch, or after school.

March 15 MASSIVE joint rally with UTLA teachers. Sign-up to confirm you’ll be there. Bus transportation is also available.

Mobilize the strike commitment form at your worksite. Members voted overwhelmingly to strike, now we need to prepare at each school and worksite. Make sure your school is ready to demand respect! Request a commitment form.
