In February, SEIU Local 99 members at LAUSD voted overwhelmingly to authorize a strike and have been preparing to strike. Thousands have signed the strike commitment form showing they’re ready to take strong action. It’s time!
LAUSD has continued to harass and threaten SEIU Local 99 members engaging in union activities for a fair contract. In response, our SEIU Local 99 bargaining team has called for a 3-day unfair practice charges strike. The dates of the strike will be announced at our upcoming joint rally with UTLA on March 15.
What is an unfair labor practice strike?
This is a lawful strike to protest the district’s unfair practices, including threats, interrogation, and surveillance of members who participated in last month’s strike vote.
Why are we only striking for three days?
Over three days we can show the district that we are fed-up with their disrespect and not afraid to take strong action to demand respect for our work.
Can I get in trouble, be replaced or even fired for striking?
It is against labor law for employers to fire, permanently replace, retaliate against or discipline employees who participate in a lawful strike. If you believe your rights are being violated, document the incident and report it to our union immediately by completing this form.
