Members at Compton Unified Weighing District’s Wage Offer

Compton Unified currently negotiating with bargaining team

SEIU Local 99 elected bargaining team members from Compton Unified have been busy this summer negotiating with the school district. The district has put a 6.5% wage increase offer on the table, retroactive to July 1, 2022.

Our bargaining team held a membership meeting with members on August 2, 2023 to get feedback on the district’s offer and plan our next steps.

In addition to a wage increase, other members also were eager to voice their concerns about expanding the current benefits package to make health insurance more affordable for members and their dependents.

Our union has also filed a grievance to ensure the school district complies with our agreement to ensure there is a 1% wage difference between supervisors and the employees they supervise. The district has not been complying with this differential in our current contract.

Remember, it’s up to us to defend our contract and what we win in our new contract is up to all of us. Let’s continue to support our bargaining team by staying informed and active at our worksites.

Check back for updates and notice of upcoming membership meetings. Meetings are open to members only, and membership status is verified. If you aren’t a member and would like to become a member, you can do so in person at future membership meetings or sign-up online before the meeting.
