Call for Nominations and Election Process

Take the lead to continue to improve jobs and student services at TAS. This is an  opportunity to make your voice heard on our next contract and in addressing worksite issues.

Join the Bargaining Team & Labor Management Committee (LMC)

The bargaining team and labor management committee reviews input from members, develops contract proposals and negotiates directly with the employer. Members on this team also meet regularly with TAS administrators to find solutions to worksite problems, improve working conditions, and improve the student services we provide. Members of the team receive training, receive union leave from work, and are paid their regular wages during times when they must miss work in order to participate in Labor Management Committee meetings or contract negotiations.

The Bargaining Team and Labor Management Committee is made-up of members from each of the following categories and one alternate:

  • Food Services – 1 seat + 1 alternate
  • Custodial – 1 seat + 1 alternate
  • Classroom Support – 1 seat + 1 alternate

Nomination Process for Bargaining Team & Labor Management Committee

To be nominated for a seat on the Bargaining Team and Labor Management Committee, any member in good standing must submit a Nomination Form, signed by at least 25 SEIU Local 99 members in their job classification category or 25% of members in their job classification category, whichever is smaller.

The deadline to submit the completed Nomination Form is Monday, October 16, 2023 at 5pm. Prior to October 16, petitions may be turned into an SEIU Local 99 Organizer or at SEIU Local 99’s main office (3530 Wilshire Blvd. #1800, Los Angeles, CA 90010) Monday through Friday between 8am-5pm. Petitions may also be scanned or photographed and sent to raguilar@seiu99.org or your Organizer.

Members will be notified if they have submitted sufficient petition signatures to qualify for the Bargaining Team and Labor Management Committee election within 48-hours of submitting their petitions. If members do not submit enough qualifying signatures, they will have until October 16 at 5pm to resubmit the petition with the additional signatures needed to complete the required 25 signatures or signatures by 25% in their job classification category. Members in contested elections will be notified by October 30, 2023. Contested means that there will be a vote between all members within your classification category to determine who will win the seat and the second highest will be an alternate.

Petitions are available to download and print here. Paper copies of nominating petitions are also available Monday-Friday 8:00am-5pm (except holidays) at the SEIU Local 99 main office located at 3530 Wilshire Blvd. #1800, Los Angeles, CA 90010.
