Progress in Contract Negotiations with SMMUSD. Next up: Wages!

Speaking Out for a Fair Contract at SMMUSD Board Meeting

Our SEIU Local 99 bargaining team is making progress in contract negotiations on leave of absence language, protections on working out of job classification, and other articles related to working conditions. Once we reach a tentative agreement on these issues, wages will be on the table.

The next scheduled bargaining session date is Wednesday, October 4th. Let’s continue to show SMMUSD that we are united at the bargaining table and at our worksites. Wear your SEIU Local 99 t-shirt or purple clothing on t-shirt Tuesdays. Stay active and informed. Check for updates on the SMMUSD Local 99 workplace page on our website.

Speaking Out for a Fair Contract at SMMUSD Board Meeting

Bargaining team member Lamont Odom spoke out at the September 21 SMMUSD board meeting where they were voting on a Labor Day resolution “championing Santa Monica’s and Malibu’s workforce, including striking hotel workers. Lamar told the board, “We also remind the school board to negotiate in good faith with SEIU Local 99 members as contract negotiations continue. We expect that this resolution will also translate into respect for us at the bargaining table as we fight for better working conditions.”
