SEIU Local 99 & UTLA Members Standing Strong to Demand LAUSD Stop the Cuts!

Join the Rally on Tuesday, May 7 4:30pm at LAUSD Headquarters 333 S. Beaudry Ave. Los Angelesl

Despite having over $6 billion in reserves, LAUSD is cutting school budgets. Many Campus Aides, School Supervision Aides, Teacher Assistants, Instructional Aides, and others have been pressured to self-reduce their hours or have been informed that their hours will be cut starting next school year. Many teachers are also facing cuts.

While Superintendent Alberto Carvalho is publicly saying there are no layoffs, the fact is the reported cuts to hours could equal thousands of jobs lost with a dire impact on student services.

And in a shameless act of union busting, Carvalho and the district are blaming the cuts on the raises won by SEIU Local 99 and UTLA members after our strike last year – an outright lie.

The truth is Carvalho and the district are starving schools by failing to provide sufficient school site funding and taking back an unprecedented 70% of school carryover funds. This is money schools depend on to fill in budget gaps.

We’re fighting back! SEIU Local 99 & UTLA are flexing our union strength once again.
We will rally strong on May 7 to demand that Carvalho and the district reverse the cuts, return the carryover money to schools, and increase – not reduce – hours.
