SEIU Local 99 Members keep up the fight for a Fair Contract, More Tentative Agreements reached for several articles with the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD)!

Take Action: Members Must Stand United and Ready to Take Action to show the District we are serious about wage increases!

Members of our SEIU Local 99 bargaining team at LACCD met with the district for a fifth time to negotiate on Friday, May 17th, 2024. Bargaining team members made gains and secured victories on some much needed language for two tentative agreements (TA). SEIU Local 99 members fought to have their seniority respected for Article 10 transfers & shift change to be considered inverse seniority for involuntary transfers and Article 7 Organizational Security updated language to reflect the current law.

✅ Article 16 – Professional Growth

  • Increased tuition reimbursement from $2,000 to $4,000

✅ Article 11 – Safety

  • Expanded amount for safety boots/shoes from $160 to $300 & can be used to repair safety shoes and boots.

✅ Article 10 – Transfer & Shift Change

  • Improved language to secure inverse seniority for involuntary transfers

✅ Article 7 – Organizational Security

  • Cleaned up language to secure dues from those that are not in our bargaining unit and working out of class in our bargaining unit upon submitting a membership application

We continue to need all SEIU Local 99 members at LACCD to stand united & strong as we fight to improve our rights in the following articles:

SEIU Local 99 bargaining members are dissatisfied with the district’s current proposals surrounding wage increases in negotiations. Members need to take actions at their worksite and show solidarity that we are united. Our message remains the same: #LivingWagesNow!

The bargaining team met today May 30th in preparation to win a strong contract. The bargaining team will meet again on June 6th to continue strategizing in anticipation for our next negotiations session to be determined.

Take Action by taking these steps to win:

✅ Support your bargaining team members by participating in “purple-up” days. Wear your SEIU Local 99 T-Shirt or any purple shirt on Tuesdays at your worksite.

✅ Post photos on your social media tagging @seiu99 and @laccd_edu using the hashtags #LivingWagesNow, #FullStaffing4LACCD, #WeDeserveRespect and #LACCD.
