SEIU Local 99 members at Options showed their union strength on April 15 at the Greater Ontario Convention Center as we gathered before in-service training to build solidarity and gear–up for upcoming contract negotiations.

SEIU Local 99 Member Leaders & Bargaining Team Representatives shared important updates:

🔹 Aurora Del Campo, Lead Teacher– What We’ve Won: From PTO flexibility to new holidays and better benefits, Aurora highlighted how our unity has delivered real improvements in our working conditions.

🔹 Lizbeth Sanchez, Associate Teacher – What We Still Need to Improve: Lizbeth spoke up about what’s still missing—job protections, more PTO, just cause, and supplemental pay. Our work isn’t done yet.

🔹 Gabriela Balvodinos, Lead Teacher – What’s Next: It Starts With You: Gabriela reminded us that as we head into full contract negotiations, building our strength through membership recruitment at every site is key to winning even more.

🎉 Members also had a chance to win two raffle prizes—because who says solidarity can’t be fun? Congratulations to Elizabeth Blumenthal, Associate Teacher for winning a $100 Arco gift card and Alicia Rangel, Teacher for winning a $100 gift card for Northgate Market.

As we move forward, let’s carry this energy into every workplace.

Update: Elimination of ASES Program at Rowland Unified

We’ve been informed that Options has discontinued the contract for the ASES Program at Rowland Unified impacting the SEIU Local 99 members that work for that program. SEIU Local 99 is reaching out to impacted members and we will be meeting with Options to advocate for impacted workers.
