Key Highlights of the New CCPU Three-Year Contract Agreement with the State of California!

Family child care providers came together in our union, calling Governor Newsom thousands of times, emailing him thousands more, sharing our stories with state legislators, and organizing rallies in our communities and at the Capitol to secure an agreement we can take pride in.

Together, we amplified our voices to protect our hard-won benefits, secured increases in our current rates, obtained one-time stabilization payments, and positioned ourselves to keep organizing and fighting for further rate increases to earn the true cost of care and to strengthen our union.

We reached a tentative agreement with the state that includes the following:

  • Protected CCPU benefit funds at their current levels:
    • Healthcare Funding – $100 million a year. Get reimbursement for healthcare, plus dental and vision coverage, and life insurance. Plus you are able to add your dependents.
    • Retirement Funding – $80 million a year. Receive automatic contributions directly into your retirement account if you are a licensed provider
    • Training Funding – $15 million a year. Access free trainings, workshops, tuition assistance, mental wellness trainings, and the technology (laptops, printers) you need for your work.
  • Payment Increase (Starting Next Year): Your monthly cost of care per child payments will increase.
    • LA County: Licensed $186 | Licensed-Exempt $130.
    • SB County: Licensed $174 | Licensed-Exempt providers $122.
  • One-Time Cost of Care Catch-Up Payment (by 1/1/26): You will get a one-time payment per child if you had enrollment in April 2025.
    • LA County: Licensed $90 | Licensed-Exempt $66.
    • SB County: Licensed $84 | Licensed-Exempt $60.
  • One-Time Stabilization Payment (by 1/1/26): You will also receive a one-time stabilization payment per child based on your April 2025 enrollment.
    • Licensed $431 |Licensed-Exempt $300
  • Extension of payment system based on enrollment rather than attendance
  • Significant advancements in the true cost of care rate structure, with a commitment to reach an agreement by the upcoming budget cycle.
  • Advances on Cost of Care, including a wage re-opener

Union members must vote on the agreement. Our CCPU Negotiations Team urges a ‘YES’ vote!
