Last week, California State Senator Sasha Renee Pérez stepped into the world of Alana Lewis, one of our many dedicated childcare providers. During the visit Senator Pérez got a glimpse of the demanding, essential work that keeps children safe and nurtured, families supported, and communities thriving.

But too often, this vital work is undervalued and underpaid. Our “Walk a Day” experience put a spotlight on the urgent need for respect, fair pay, and dignity for all childcare providers.

In the wake of the new CCPU agreement, Alana and Senator Pérez sat down to talk about the critical role providers play, and how the state can do more to support them.
