LAUSD Board Votes To Approve New Contract
LAUSD Board Votes To Approve New Contract
On June 16, as SEIU Local 99 members rallied outside LAUSD headquarters, the school board voted to ratify our new contract agreement. Members overwhelmingly voted to ratify the agreement in May. Now, with the board’s vote of approval, the contract is in full effect.
Make no mistake that this agreement was won because SEIU Local 99 members stood strong and were ready to strike.
Let’s keep moving forward with that same unity and spirit as we continue to fight to protect jobs and to ensure funding for services for our highest needs students.
Highlights of the new contract with LAUSD include:
• A 24% wage increase
• Increased hours and minimum hour guarantees
• Expanded access to healthcare benefits
• Stronger protections against subcontracting and staffing cuts
Next Up:
- Negotiations continue over the impact of layoffs.
- Our grievance moves forward to rescind layoffs resulting from the district’s unlawful treatment of restricted employees
- We’ll continue to insist that the district expedites and gives us a clear date for the delivery of retroactive pay due as a result of the contract being ratified.
