Procurement SEIU Local 99 Members at LAUSD Fight For Workplace Protections & Safety
LAUSD Procurement Labor Management Committee Report Back – August 19, 2026
SEIU Local 99 members working in procurement met with Los Angeles Unified School District representatives on August 19th to raise workplace concerns across the district. These include issues relating to restroom access, disciplinary measures, and facility safety.
The next two Labor Management Committee meetings are scheduled for September 16th and October 21st.
Restroom Policy
SEIU Local 99 members made management clarify that standard request breaks do not require using or taking an official rest or break period. Workers deserve to freely be able to use the restroom as needed without having to use a break period.
Disciplinary Action for Radio Damage
SEIU Local 99 members expressed concern about workers facing disciplinary action if they accidentally damaged radios issued at SPRA. Management clarified that this will not result in disciplinary action, and workers only need to submit an incident report for documentation purposes.
Procurement Facility Safety Walk-Through
SEIU Local 99 members got confirmation of a walk-through and safety training session that management will schedule. This training will help workers be aware of the locations of shut-off valves throughout the Procurement building and how to operate them.
Ongoing Issues We Are Tracking
Several matters raised in previous meetings remain pending, including:
- Half-Day Sick Hours: management confirmed that total allowance is 100 days; as full-pay sick days accumulate, half-pay day allocations are adjusted accordingly.
- Uniforms & Boot Vouchers: management confirmed that the order for the uniforms was made; fittings will begin on October 1st.
- SKU Replenishment: management confirmed that over 110 out of 1,000 items have been returned from school sites so far; restocking remains in progress with no set completion timeframe.
- SPRA Myrtle Gate Repairs: management confirmed that the repair request has been submitted; a completion date is to be announced.
