Take the Lead: Be a Part of the SEIU Local 99 Bargaining Team and/or Labor Management Committees at LAUSD – Call for Nominations

Be a part of our Contract Bargaining Team
Our contract with LAUSD expires on June 30, 2027. It’s time to elect members to our bargaining team that will negotiate our next contract with the district. The bargaining team reviews input from members, develops contract proposals and negotiates directly with the employer. Members on the bargaining team are on the frontlines of negotiations and are required to attend planning meetings, bargaining sessions and other activities to ensure we win a strong contract. Members of the team receive training, receive union leave from work, and are paid their regular wages during times when they must miss work in order to participate in bargaining.

There are 24 available seats up for election, as follows:

  • Unit B (Special Education Assistants, Instructional Aides) = 9 seats
  • Unit C (Food Services, Maintenance & Operations, Procurement, Transportation)= 9 seats
  • Unit F (Teacher Assistants)= 2 seats
  • Unit G (Community Representatives, After School Program Workers) = 4 seats

Nomination Process for Bargaining Team
To be nominated for a seat on the bargaining team, any member in good standing must submit a Petition of Support, signed by at least 25 SEIU Local 99 members from their own bargaining unit or 25% of members in their bargaining unit, whichever is smaller.

The deadline to submit completed petitions is Friday, October 9, 2026 at noon.

Prior to October 9, petitions may be turned into an SEIU Local 99 Organizer or at SEIU Local 99’s main office (3530 Wilshire Blvd. #1800, Los Angeles, CA 90010) Monday through Friday between 8am-5pm (except holidays). Petitions may also be scanned or photographed and emailed to SEIULocal99Petitions@seiu99.org or your organizer.

Members will be notified if they have submitted sufficient petition signatures to qualify for the Bargaining Team election within 48-hours of submitting their petitions. If members do not submit enough qualifying signatures, they will have until October 9 at noon to resubmit the petition with the additional signatures needed to complete the required 25 signatures or signatures by 25% of their bargaining unit. Members in contested elections will be notified by October 9. Contested means that there will be a vote between all members within your classification to determine who will win the seat and the second highest will be an alternate.
