Be a Part of the SEIU Local 99 Bargaining Team & Labor Management Committee at Montague Charter Academy – Call for Nominations

Take the lead to continue to improve jobs and student services at Montague Charter Academy. Our current contract expires on June 30, 2027 – and we’re preparing to build on our gains now by electing members to our Bargaining Team.

Be a part of our Contract Bargaining Team
Members on our Bargaining Team review input from members, develop contract proposals, negotiate directly with the employer, and address worksite issues.

Members on this team are required to attend planning meetings, bargaining sessions and other activities. Members of the team receive training, receive union leave from work, and are paid their regular wages during times when they must miss work in order to participate in bargaining.

Members elected to serve on the Bargaining Team should include, but are not limited to, those working in Operations-Support Services, Instructional Aides, Teacher Assistants, and Playground Aides.

Nomination Process for Bargaining Team
To be nominated for a seat on the Bargaining Team any member in good standing must submit a Petition of Support, signed by at least 25 SEIU Local 99 members from their own job classification or 25% of members in the bargaining unit, whichever is smaller.

The deadline to submit completed petitions is Friday, October 9, 2026 at 12pm (noon).

Prior to October 9, petitions may be turned into an SEIU Local 99 Organizer or at SEIU Local 99’s main office (3530 Wilshire Blvd. #1800, Los Angeles, CA 90010) Monday through Friday between 8am-5pm. Petitions may also be scanned or photographed and sent to SEIULocal99Petitions@seiu99.org or your organizer.

Members will be notified if they have submitted sufficient petition signatures to qualify for the Bargaining Team election within 48-hours of submitting their petitions. If members do not submit enough qualifying signatures, they will have until October 9 at 12pm (noon) to resubmit the petition with the additional signatures needed to complete the required 25 signatures by job classification or signatures by 25% of the bargaining unit. Members in contested elections will be notified by October 9. Contested means that there will be a vote between all members within your classification to determine who will win the seat and the second highest will be an alternate.

Petitions are available to download and print- CLICK OR TAP HERE.

Printed copies of nominating petitions are also available at the SEIU Local 99 main office. Detailed instructions for completing and submitting nominating petitions are included with the petition itself.

Election Process for Bargaining Team
Only SEIU Local 99 members in good standing are eligible to participate in the nomination and election process for the Bargaining Team. Membership will be verified for all nominees and members signing petitions.
An election to fill contested seats on the Bargaining Team will be held in person at a date and location to be determined.
Results of the election will be announced at SEIU Local 99 Leadership Summit & Industry Division Meeting on October 17 at L.A. Trade Technical College.
