Victory at TUSD: Members Ratify 2026–27 Tentative Agreement
SEIU Local 99 members at Torrance Unified School District have voted to ratify the tentative agreement with the District for the 2026–27 school year!
This victory belongs to members who stood together throughout this campaign. Members showed up at School Board meetings, wore purple, spoke out, and built solidarity with our union coalition. Together, we made it clear that TUSD must invest in the workers who keep our schools running.
Because we stood united, SEIU Local 99 members at TUSD won:
-
An ongoing 3.18% salary increase, retroactive to July 1, 2026
-
Increased employer contributions toward health care
-
A $12,410 annual health and welfare contribution for eligible 1.00 FTE SEIU Local 99 members for the 2026–27 plan year
-
More District support for health care costs for workers who work less than eight hours, with greater contributions for employees working fewer hours
-
Building on our win earlier this year, a minimum four-hour workday for cafeteria workers, providing access to health care benefits and the PERS pension
-
The ability to continue negotiations for the 2027–28 school year on wages, health and welfare benefits, hours and overtime, grievances, holidays, leaves, union rights, and additional articles

These gains didn’t happen on their own. We won them because members took action and stood together.
Next, the TUSD school board must ratify the agreement at the October 12 Board meeting.
The fight continues! Let’s keep building our union strength for the fights ahead.
When we stand together, we win. Our unity is our strength.
