SEIU Local 99 Members at SMMUSD Won BIG on Health Care, But The District’s Wage Offer is Still “Chump Change”!

We’re Taking Our Fight To the Streets!

SEIU Local 99 members on our bargaining team demand respect! At our bargaining session on Sept. 30, all SMMUSD could come up with was an additional half-percent wage increase.

“A slap in the face,” that’s what Local 99 Bargaining Team Member and SMMUSD Health Office Specialist Eric Singleton told the district.

Bargaining Team member and Bus Driver Kathy Yates called it an “insult.”

We’re dealing with the soaring costs of living – groceries and rent are through the roof. Gas prices are about to hit $7. And all the district can offer is an extra HALF A PERCENT?!  That’s Chump Change!!!

We’re done with the delays. Let’s get ready to shake things up!!!

We know SMMUSD is listening …

Our actions at Board meetings and worksites, pushed the District to agree on:

  •  Expanding Healthcare Access! Through our unity we got the district to lower the healthcare eligibility threshold from 7 hours per day to 6 hours per day – ensuring hundreds more workers will have access to 100% covered health care.
  • We also made them withdraw their ridiculous “flip flop” proposal that banned SEIU Local 99 members from wearing sandals at work. It was nothing but a last-minute attempt by the District to stall negotiations.

Now, let’s make sure they deliver on our money!

We’re Taking It to the Streets!

Picket Line for Fair Wages! More Hours! Respect!
