Compton School Board

SEIU Local 99 members support two incumbents for Compton School Board—Micah Ali and Charles Davis. They share a deep commitment to the Compton community and quality schools. We know they’ll deliver for students, school workers, and families.

Throughout 2019, SEIU Members across California gathered at regional town halls to hear from candidates for district office, statewide office, and Congress. They also learned about proposed ballot measures and the impact they would have on workers and local communities. At the end of this process, members endorsed candidates who they believe will fight for our right to a union, fair compensation, and stronger communities, and measures that help us all move forward.

LAUSD School Board Race

Four LAUSD School Board seats were contested in the Tuesday, March 3 Primary Election. SEIU Local 99 members endorsed Dr. George McKenna (Board District 1), Scott Schmerelson (Board District 3), Jackie Goldberg (Board District 5), and Patricia Castellanos (Board District 7).

L.A. District Attorney

The school-to-prison pipeline is an injustice to low-income communities of color. California spends way more money on prisons than on education. Together—with George Gascón, who’s running for Los Angeles District Attorney—we’re saying enough is enough! The final vote tally from this race is still pending.
