SEIU Local 99 Members Receive Payout on Grievance Filed with Compton Unified School District (CUSD)!

SEIU Local 99 members at Compton Unified enforced our contract with the District to ensure a 1% Supervising Differential and we won! On July 2nd, 2024, members began receiving their differential payouts. Our win ensures that members currently employed by CUSD will receive $1,400 per year for years of service between the 2017-18 and 2022-23 school years. Members enforced language in the contract that states a required 1% salary difference between supervisors and the employees being supervised. The District shall maintain a minimum differential of one percent (1%).

SEIU Local 99 Members Overwhelmingly Vote ‘Yes’ to ratify tentative agreement with Compton Unified School District (CUSD)

Our SEIU Local 99 bargaining team at Compton Unified had a negotiation session with the district on Wednesday April 17, 2024 and Thursday May 2, 2024. SEIU Local 99 bargaining team members came to the table prepared and handed a strong counter proposal to the district to reach a tentative agreement.

Contract Negotiations Move Forward at Compton Unified

Members on our SEIU Local 99 bargaining team met with Compton Unified on Friday, March 1st, 2024 for another round of contract negotiations. Bargaining team members went on the offensive and presented demands that included higher wages and  increased money for medical benefits. Members met again with Compton Unified representatives on March 14, 2024 where the district provided an overtly disrespectful offer to members. The counter offer was only 5%! Lower than what was presented to other unions at Compton Unified. The employer stated they weren’t interested in negotiating stipends for the work that is done by unit members.

90% Of CUSD Members Voted To Ratify Tentative Agreement!

With a 90% "YES" vote, members at CUSD have voted to ratify the tentative agreement that includes a 6.5% salary increase retroactive to July 1, 2022, and an ongoing increase 1% salary differential retroactive to January 1, 2023.
