In July, our union sent all employers a demand to bargain over their plans for returning to school and any changes they plan to make due to COVID-19. All of our negotiations with employers are being guided by our Principles for Reopening Schools. Here is an update on our discussions with employers
“Regardless of where teaching is happening, we must focus on creating the conditions that students need to learn.”
Unless Governor Gavin Newsom and the state legislature take immediate action to dedicate additional funds to school districts to implement social distancing protocols, proper PPE for all, training, testing and other safety measures, it will be almost impossible for classroom instruction to safely resume in the fall.

Our SEIU Local 99 Bargaining Team has reached a tentative contract agreement with the LA County Office of Education (LACOE). Members must vote on the agreement.
Our LACOE Bargaining Team reached a Tentative Agreement (TA) for the 2017-2018 re-opener negotiations on September 4.
