Our Bargaining Team is currently in negotiations with the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) over wages. Our team has challenged the district to think creatively about improving wages and compensation for Local 99 members.
We officially opened negotiations with LAUSD on June 18, 2019 over our 2019-2020 wage increases. Our Bargaining Team spoke before the school board to let them know we’re ready to bargain for fair and equitable raises and real solutions to staffing shortages that impact student learning.
On Thursday, January 3 we met with LAUSD to bargain over the impact the January 10 teacher’s strike will have on SEIU Local 99 members and schools. We brought to this meeting many of our questions and concerns in an effort to learn about the District’s plans to safely operate schools during UTLA’s strike.
Our new union contract was ratified by both members and the LAUSD school board. Most SEIU Local 99 members at LAUSD will see their retroactive paychecks on July 23.
The LAUSD School Board ratified our contract on June 12. A majority of the board members clearly understand that it takes teamwork to put our kids first and voted in favor of the agreement. Only Nick Melvoin objected. While Melvoin said he recognized our hard work, his objection demonstrates that he does not understand the [...]
Members have cast their ballots. The votes are counted and an overwhelming 97% of voters approved the new 3-year contract with LAUSD. We should all be proud of the hard work we did to win this contract. We negotiated for over a year with LAUSD and they would not budge off a one-time 2% [...]
Now that our Bargaining Team has reached a Tentative Agreement with LAUSD, it's time for the membership to decide whether they want to ratify it and make it the official 2017-2020 contract. Voting begins tomorrow and will end May 31. SEIU Local 99 staff and member leaders will be holding voting at 155 work sites throughout LAUSD. Members can also vote online. Now is also the time to know and understand the agreement terms, and what it means for you and your co-workers. See more for the full language of the agreement.
We are Union Strong! Unfair Practices Resolved. Strike Averted. Members now must vote on agreement. Our Bargaining Team Recommends a 'Yes' Vote. Our petitions, informational picket lines, stickers-ups, rallies, protests at school board meetings and our bold commitment to stand united and go on strike all pushed the District to reach a three-year [...]
After a long bargaining session on Friday, May 4, the District gave us their last, best, and final offer. While there was some movement, the District’s “best” just isn’t good enough. The District offered a three year contract with raises in the first year of 3% for everyone and an additional 1% [...]
Even though we’re still far apart on wages and staffing, we can be proud that our rallies, sticker-ups, informational picketing and strike vote have led to several tentative agreements with LAUSD. At our bargaining session today, April 30, we reached agreement on two more proposals: Subcontracting Protections Improved protections against the subcontracting of Unit B [...]
