Agreement Reached with LAUSD for Distance Learning in New School Year Hero pay plus No layoffs, furloughs or reductions in hours secured in new agreement
After days of bargaining, we have reached an agreement with LAUSD on distance learning, safety and other issues impacting our return to school for the 2020-21 school year. This agreement is in effect until December 31, 2020 or until students return to in-person classes or a hybrid model. Highlights include hero pay, safety protocols and guidelines for special assignments and NO furloughs, layoffs or cuts to hours.
Just days before the new school year is set to begin, LAUSD is demonstrating that they still don’t have clear plans to ensure the safety of classified employees and to recognize our role in student learning during this pandemic.

In our latest round of negotiations with LAUSD over reopening plans for the 2020-21 school year, our bargaining team addressed safety protocols, PPE, hero pay and roles of school bus drivers and paraprofessionals as distance learning continues.
We started negotiations with LAUSD this week to discuss the district's plans for the new school year. We know instruction will continue online but there are also many Local 99 members who will be reporting to work at school or job sites. Whether your job will require you to be online or on campus, it will be up to all of us to stand strong during these negotiations to ensure safe, fair and equitable working conditions.
