I was a member of USWW. My collaboration with the union and colleagues was to improve working conditions and assume leadership within the organization, as shop steward, member of the executive board and Staff. I was also a community organizer with the Community Coalition, where we organized caregivers. We made them aware of the needs and changes, for the benefit of the children who are in the DCFS system.
In 2018, I started with SEIU Local 99, to contribute my experience and leadership in the organizing campaign for Child Care Providers United- CCPU. First we passed AB 378, where providers were able to form a union and negotiate a labor contract with the state.
I continue to organize so that members are the ones in control of their industry and in the workplace. YES WE CAN!
