Tell LAUSD: No Cuts to Student Learning & Safety!

Despite more than $6 billion in reserves, LAUSD Superintendent Carvalho and the school board are underfunding our schools. The district is cutting critical positions and programs. Students will pay the price if these cuts go through. LAUSD has the money to fund our schools — they're just refusing to do it. Let Carvalho and the School Board know we won't let them defund public schools. Send them an email demanding they restore school funding and stop the cuts!

Contract Negotiations Progress with LAUSD

On April 30, 2024, our bargaining team began negotiations with LAUSD for our next full contract. We let the district know we’re ready to fight for: • Wages above poverty. • More hours to provide the full services students need. No cuts!• Respect for workers. Stop the harassment. Stop the intimidation of workers.• More staffing for clean, safe, supportive schools. If the district is serious about student health and safety, they need to invest in staffing.

Members vote ‘Yes’ to ratify agreement with SMMUSD

SEIU Local 99 members took action like never before to win big gains in our next contract. Now it’s time to vote to ratify the agreement. The contract agreement cannot go into effect until members vote to ratify it. Our actions moved the district to eliminate all contingencies on wage increases. Members will see a 18% raise that coupled with our previously won 10% increase totaling a significant 28% increase.

Members of our SEIU Local 99 bargaining team at LACCD met with the district for a fourth time to negotiate on May 3. Significant progress was made where members secured a tentative agreement (TA) on two articles ensuring more money for work boots, increased tuition reimbursement, and memorialized our essential worker designation for the work SEIU Local 99 members contribute to all of the colleges and facilities throughout the district.

SEIU Local 99 bargaining team members voted to ratify the tentative agreement that was secured at Pleasant Valley for their 2023-2026 successor agreement.  Members voted ‘YES’ to a 4.15% salary increase retroactive to July 1, 2023.
