Family Child Care Providers Say Union Yes! Family child care providers - SEIU Local 99 Members - voted to certify their union Child Care Providers United in the largest union election in 20 years!

An estimated 15,000 child care providers in Los Angeles County alone will now join our SEIU Local 99 family. Together, we’ll now be a union of nearly 50,000 education workers. We’ll have an even stronger voice to fight for the safe reopening of schools, quality public education from cradle to career and good jobs for all of us who contribute to student learning.

The SEIU Local 99 Executive Board held an open meeting on July 18. Member officers and leaders gave updates on gains we've made to address worksite issues, reviewed our union's Principles for Re-opening Schools, and discussed the importance of Prop. 15. We also heard from Child Care Providers who are on the verge of a historic victory to secure the right to negotiate a contract. Joining us for a discussion racial inequities in policing and the need to reform the criminal justice system was candidate for L.A. District Attorney George Gascón.
